Brief Description:
"Tell me I forget, Show Me, I might Remember, Involve Me I Understand" this is an American Indian Proverb and is basically how I've been approaching life lately, especially in the political arena. Dennis Kucinich's first attempt as a Democratic Presidential Candidate was my introduction to politics. He had so much courage and his platform resonated with me. I wanted to do everything I could to get him elected. I became a precinct chair, joined various groups, protested, wrote letters, campaigned. I firmly believe that when we get people around issues we get more democrats elected.
If Elected to Office:
Congratulations on being elected to the State Democratic Convention! I'm interested in the Grassroots Committee. I believe that is where our strength lies. We need to get trained and organized but more than anything we need to communicate with our base.
I am running for the State Democratic Executive Committee position to be our local voice in the Party. Basically, I want to improve the communication between the State Democratic Party and the local party. Because I have been actively involved, I want to serve on the Grassroots Committee and be the link between the state party and our local party. I will continue to increase voter registration and voter turnout as I have in the past as Precinct 87 Chair. You can count on me to work with our local party to plan and implement training sessions and materials to increase local grassroots activity around the state. Corpus Christi is hosting the 2010 Texas Democratic Convention and it is imperative we work together for the good of the party, beginning now.
Senate District 20's current Representative is from Hidalgo County: Rosalie Wiesfeld. She has completed her term. An agreement between Hidalgo and Nueces representatives alternates two-year terms for our SDEC male and female representatives. The agreement ensures representation for both counties within Senate District 20. Ms. Wiesfeld has indicated she intends to retain her position and breach the agreement. Danny Noyola, Jr. has served his term and has chosen to uphold our agreement.
My qualifications to seek this position are as follows:
When people get behind issues, we elect Democrats, who haven’t held a statewide office since 1994.
Let’s work together and turn Texas BLUE again!
Please call or e-mail me with your support, issues and ideas or suggestions. Thank you.
